Google has made a strategic investment in Emergent, an agentic no-code platform that allows users to build production-grade applications without writing software. The investment comes through Google’s AI Futures Fund, which was launched in May 2025 to support AI startups with capital, early access to Google models and technical expertise.

The deal comes as demand for agent-driven automation and task execution grows, with AI adoption shifting from content generation to building tools, products and workflows.

What will the new funding be used for?

Emergent said the funding will be used to expand hiring, accelerate product development and support global rollout.

The investment amount was not disclosed. The company previously raised $23 million in a Series A round led by Lightspeed, with participation from Prosus Ventures, Together Fund, and Y Combinator.

Angel investors Jeff Dean, Devendra Chaplot, and Balaji Srinivasan also participated in the round. The last funding got Emergent’s total capital raised to $30 million, including a previous $7 million seed round.

Who are the founders?

Co-founder and CEO Mukund Jha is a Columbia Engineering graduate and former Google engineer who had also co-founded the startup Dunzo. His brother Madhav Jha is an ex-Amazon AI scientist and has worked as the Machine Learning Engineer at Dropbox before starting Emergent.

What does Emergent do?

The startup, which launched three months ago, offers an AI-powered app builder that enables users to create production-ready web and mobile apps without writing code.

The platform handles backend infrastructure, logins, payments, deployment, and scaling, making it suitable for individuals, solopreneurs, and small business owners.

Emergent says it has already reached $15 million in annual recurring revenue and serves over one million users who have built more than 1.5 million apps globally.

Emergent claims to have built a 2.5 million global user base in under five months and says it has crossed a $25 million annualised revenue run rate. The platform enables small businesses, entrepreneurs and creators to build apps using autonomous agents, without requiring coding skills or engineering teams.

“Not every founder has the technology expertise or resources to make their dream a reality,” said Mukund Jha, co-founder and CEO, Emergent. “We’re honoured to be supported by Google’s AI Futures Fund.”

The company said it aims to serve “tens of millions” of users by early next year.

“The AI Futures Fund is about reimagining what can be accomplished with generative AI,” said Jonathan Silber, co-founder and director of the fund. “We look forward to supporting Emergent as they build with Gemini 3.”

Emergent enters a crowded space where global platforms such as Replit and Adept, and Indian players including Appsmith and Zoho Creator, are targeting non-technical users and SMEs with automation and app-building tools.
