China's Fosun Group has made a non-binding bid for Fortis Healthcare. It has bought Gland Pharma from PE firm KKR, reported CNBC-TV18. The Fosun Group is one of China's largest privately-owned investment conglomerates. They invest in sectors like pharmaceuticals, real estate, financial services, infrastructure and hospitality.
India files fresh pleadings in ICJ in Jadhav case
India on Tuesday filed a fresh set of pleadings in the International Court of Justice (ICJ) relating to the case of its national Kulbhushan Jadhav, who was sentenced to death by a Pakistani military court in April last year on charges of espionage and terrorism.
The second round of written reply by India in the case was in response to the submissions by Pakistan in the ICJ on December 13 last year, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA)said.
India had moved The Hague-based ICJ in May last after Jadhav, 47, was sentenced to death by a Pakistani military court on charges of espionage and terrorism. A 10-member bench of the ICJ on May 18 had restrained Pakistan from executing Jadhav till adjudication of the case. (PTI)
BJP ministers in J&K asked to resign; reshuffle on cards
The BJP on Tuesday asked all its nine ministers in Jammu and Kashmir to submit their resignations to enable the party to bring in new faces in the two-year-old Mehbooba Mufti cabinet, party leaders said.
The BJP has been under pressure ever since two of its ministers -- Lal Singh and Chander Prakash Ganga -- took part in a rally in support of those accused in the rape and murder of an eight-year-old girl in Kathua. The two ministers subsequently resigned. The BJP leaders said the party wants to bring in new faces in the cabinet and work for the people of the state. (PTI)
PM holds roundtable with top Swedish CEOs, asks them to invest in India
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday invited top Swedish firms to invest in India and said stronger bilateral business relations would augur well for the people of the two countries.
Modi, who held talks with his Swedish counterpart Stefan Lofven earlier in the day, was welcomed by children in traditional Indian costume on his arrival at the Stockholm City Hall here to attend the Roundtable Meeting with Swedish CEOs. (PTI)
Aircel-Maxis PMLA case: ED questions Karti for 2nd time
The ED on Tuesday questioned Karti Chidambaram, son of former finance minister P Chidambaram, for the second time in connection with its probe in the Aircel-Maxis money laundering case, officials said.
They said the investigating officer (IO) of the case recorded Karti Chidambaram's statement under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). Karti Chidambaram was first grilled at the central probe agency's office here on April 10 for about ten hours in connection with the case. He has been summoned for questioning next week. (PTI)

Rupee tanks to near 7-month low of 65.64 a dollar
The rupee extended its losing run for the second straight day, falling by another 15 paise to end at a near 7-month low of 65.64 against the US dollar amid persistent capital outflows and a fresh ripple of geopolitical tensions.
Headwinds in the form of consistent widening in the trade deficit accompanied by portfolio outflows amid unsupportive global factors kept overall sentiment highly bearish. Country's trade deficit hit USD 13.69 billion in March, climbing from USD 11.98 billion in February. This is the weakest close for the Indian currency since September 27, 2017 when it had ended at 65.72. (IPL)
Three BJP states, Tamil Nadu to seek review of SC/ST order
Three BJP-ruled states and Tamil Nadu will move the Supreme Court against its order on the SC/ST Act with the Centre maintaining that state governments are on board in seeking a recall of the verdict, days after violent protests by Dalit groups engulfed several parts of the country.
Following a nudge from the top BJP brass, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh -- all of whom had reportedly taken steps to implement the verdict -- have revoked their decision and decided to join the Centre in filing review pleas. Official sources also said the Centre is keeping ready an ordinance to annul the order of the court, depending on the outcome of its petition. (PTI)
Electoral Bonds have serial numbers but are not accessible to anyone: Govt
The government on Tuesday said the electoral bonds, which are used to make anonymous political donations carry a serial number as part of in-built security feature to prevent counterfeiting but the number is not accessible to anybody, including the government.
Maintaining that the anonymity of the donors is maintained, the finance ministry in a statement said the random serial number on the bonds is not visible to naked eye and the same is not even noted by the issuing bank, the SBI.
In a bid to clean up election funding, the government had in January introduced electoral bonds that can be bought from specified branches of State Bank of India and used to donate money to political parties. (PTI)
