November 19, 2013 / 10:06 AM IST

Equity Mutual Funds edged higher for the second consecutive session on Monday, as the 30-share BSE benchmark rallied 451 points, uplifted by  positive newsflow coming out of China and recovery in rupee. Driven by the markets positive performance, all equity and balanced funds ended in green registering no decline.

The sector funds were also in line with the markets movement witnessing no decline.

The market closed at one-week high as the Sensex rose 2.21 percent to 20,850.74, and the Nifty surged 132.85 points or 2.19 percent to 6189, continuing upmove for the second consecutive session.

In the fixed income space, all the funds in debt space too advanced registering no declines. Indian bonds rose slightly on Monday as the central bank bought 61.6 billion rupees ($973.76 million) of bonds via open market operations, but gains were capped on uncertainty about whether the central bank would continue to inject liquidity.
