Equity Mutual Funds delivered mixed returns as the market ended with marginal losses  in late trade on Tuesday. HDFC and Tata Motors lost 2 percent while ONGC, Bajaj Auto and HUL were major laggards in the Sensex. IT stocks saw some good buying interest with gainers like Wipro and Infosys. Hero Motocorp gained 2 percent. Tata Steel added over 1 percent ahead of announcing March quarter results tomorrow.  Funds in the broader market based like Small & Mid Cap, Large cap, Diversified Equity, Thematic Infrastructure and ELSS funds ended with mixed returns, whereas Index funds lost the most.

Among the sector space, Pharma & Healthcare, technology and FMCG funds witnessed gain, while Banking & Finance funds succumb under market pressure.

The Sensex was down 41.77 points at 27645.53 and the Nifty was down 8 points or at 8365.65. Auto, Oil and Bankex ended in red.

According to Raamdeo Agrawal of Motilal Oswal Securities, share prices are unlikely to fall much from current levels, as the worst appears to be behind value investor. He thinks though there are some lingering concerns about the delivery of promised reforms by the government, investors in the US are convinced about the India growth story.

Among fixed income funds, both Long term and Short term funds maintained steady performance. Himanshu Arora, Religare said, "The Bond markets will take cues from hopes of a rate cut after recent inflation numbers which are currently supporting yields. Expectations of a new paper launch could give further direction. Yields are expected to remain low in the range of 7.77-7.84%."
