Franklin Templeton Asset Management has enhanced its exposure in banking & financial services, automotive and cement & construction sector. JK Lakshmi Cement, Wipro and Karur Vysya Bank were the top buys, while NHPC, TV18 Broadcast and NMDC were the top sells.
Franklin Templeton Asset Management has enhanced its exposure in banking & financial services, automotive and cement & construction sector, while decreased its investments from information technology, metals & mining and chemicals sector.
A study of the Franklin Templeton Asset Management portfolio for the month of April 2013 showed that in the banking & financial services space, the fund bought IndusInd Bank, ICICI Bank, Karur Vysya Bank and introduced Repco Home Finance. However it sold Axis Bank, HDFC Bank, ING Vysya Bank and exited from Motilal Oswal Financial Services from the same space.
In the automotive segment, it purchased Bajaj Auto, Hero Motocorp and Maruti Suzuki India, while it sold Mahindra and Mahindra and Eicher Motors. (View - All Bulk Deals by Mutual Funds).
The fund bought ACC, JK Lakshmi Cement and Kajaria Ceramics in the cement & construction space.
In the information technology sector, the fund sold Infosys, Polaris Financial Technology and Oracle Financial Services Software. It also got exited from Tech Mahindra and Infinite Computer Solutions India from the same sector.
The fund sold NMDC, Jindal Steel & Power and Steel Authority of India in the metals & mining segment. However it purchased Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation, Hindalco Industries and Coal India in the same segment. (Check out - Which sectors are attracting Fund Managers)
In the chemicals pack, it sold Asian Paints, Pidilite Industries and Kansai Nerolac Paints, while it bought Berger Paints India, Coromandel International and Zuari Agro Chemicals from the same pack.
