Equity Mutual Fund NAVs fell as markets slips

Equity Mutual Funds declined for the second straight session as the 30-share BSE benchmark closed on Monday with 347.50 points loss amid concerns over US debt ceiling. Funds in the broader market based like Large cap, Thematic Infrastructure, Diversified Equity, ELSS and Index funds  succumb under market pressure, while Small & Mid Cap  ended with mixed returns.

Among sectoral funds, Pharma & Healthcare and Technology ended with mixed returns whereas Banking & Finance and FMCG Funds declined. The Sensex today closed at 19379.77, down 1.76 percent from previous close while the Nifty fell 97.90 points or 1.68 percent to 5735.30. On Fixed Income front, debt long term fund ended with negative returns as the government bonds fell on Monday, snapping four sessions of gains, after the Reserve Bank of India did not announce a bond purchase as many traders had expected after the central bank last week had said it would provide adequate liquidity.
