Closing Bell: Sensex ends Muhurat Trading higher by 245 points, Nifty around 10,600

Auto index has further extended its gain to over 1 percent, while consumption, metals, IT and energy names are trading strong.

    Market at Close A strong end to the Muhurat Trading 2018 with the Nifty ending around 10,600-mark. 

    Among sectors, automobile, banks, consumption, IT and metals were the top gainers, while in the midcaps space, the Nifty Midcap index ended almost a percent higher. 

    At the close of market hours, the Sensex ended up 245.77 points or 0.70% at 35237.68, while the Nifty closed higher by 68.40 points or 0.65% at 10598.40. The market breadth was positive as 1,925 shares advanced, against a decline of 439 shares, while 130 shares were unchanged.

    Shares of M&M, Infosys, and HPCL were the top gainers, while Axis Bank, Bharti Airtel, and Zee Entertainment lost the most.

    Market Update It is turning out to be a strong Muhurat Trading for the market. Both indices are back at high points of the day. 

    The Sensex is up 273.82 points or 0.78% at 35265.73, while the Nifty is higher by 75.90 points or 0.72% at 10605.90. The market breadth is positive as 1,781 shares advanced, against a decline of 366 shares, while 103 shares were unchanged.

    Auto index has further extended its gain to over 1 percent, while consumption, metals, IT and energy names are trading strong. The Nifty Midcap is up around a percent higher. 

    Shares of Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata Motors, and HPCL are the top gainers, while Dr Reddy’s Laboratories and Zee Entertainment have lost the most.

    Market Update Equity benchmarks are off their high points, but are still trading strong. The Nifty is trading near 10,600, while the Sensex is higher by over 200 points. 

    The Sensex is up 232.23 points or 0.66% at 35224.14, and the Nifty up 65.30 points or 0.62% at 10595.30. The market breadth is positive as 1,465 shares advanced, against a decline of 310 shares, while 83 shares were unchanged.

    All sectors continue to trade in the green, with maximum gains visible among automobiles, consumption and metal names. The Nifty Midcap index is higher by seven-tenth of a percent. 

    Among stocks, Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata Motors and HPCL are the top gainers. The top losers’ list continues to be blank.
