Sebi spends Rs 7cr on investors awareness prog in Apr-Dec FY16

Markets regulator Sebi has spent Rs 7 crore on investor awareness programme in the first nine months of the current fiscal, Parliament was informed today.

Markets regulator Sebi has spent Rs 7 crore on investor awareness programme in the first nine months of the current fiscal, Parliament was informed today.

However, Rs 42 crore was allocated for such programmes in the current fiscal (2015-16).

In a written reply to Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Finance Jayant Sinha said Sebi had spent Rs 26.42 crore in the past fiscal on several investor education programmes out of total allocation of Rs 44.41 crore.

The capital markets watchdog had utilised Rs 23.31 crore and Rs 16.91 crore in 2012-13 and 2013-14, respectively.
