Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) were net buyers of Rs 81 worth of Indian equities, while domestic institutional investors (DIIs) were net buyers of Rs 330 crore, according to provisional exchange data on October 8.
During the session, DIIs purchased shares worth Rs 11,733 crore and sold Rs 11,404 crore, while FIIs bought Rs 10,287 crore but sold Rs 10,206 crore.
Year-to-date for 2025, FIIs have withdrawn Rs 2.43 lakh crore, while DIIs have invested Rs 5.84 lakh crore.
Market Performance
Reflecting on the market performance today, Ajit Mishra – SVP, Research, Religare Broking, said:
"Markets traded sideways on Wednesday and ended with a mild downtick, taking a breather after the recent surge. After a quiet start, the Nifty moved within a narrow range for most of the session and eventually settled near the day’s low at 25,046.15. On the sectoral front, most sectors, barring IT, closed lower, with realty and auto among the top losers."
The broader indices also lost nearly half a percent each, mirroring the overall sectoral weakness.
He further added that with the earnings season underway, focus now shifts to TCS’s quarterly results, scheduled for Thursday, October 9. As IT remains one of the lagging sectors, market participants will closely watch how sentiment evolves post its numbers.
