Following weak global cues, the Indian stock market were trading on a negative note in this Thursday morning session with the Nifty50 down 76 points, trading at 10,891 while the Sensex shed 250 points and was trading at 36,234.
Nifty Metal is the underperforming sector, down 1 percent dragged by Nalco which fell 3 percent followed by Hindalco Industries and Hindustan Zinc which shed 2 percent each. The other losers were JSW Steel, SAIL and Vedanta.
Oil & gas stocks were also down dragged by GAIL India, HPCL and Reliance Industries.
Selective infra stocks were trading in the red with loses from NBCC, NTPC, Reliance Power, Siemens, Power Grid and CG Power among others.
The top gainers from NSE include Indiabulls Housing Finance, YES Bank, Asian Paints, Tech Mahindra and UPL while the top losers included Hindalco Industries, Vedanta, NTPC, HDFC and Bharti Airtel.
The most active stocks were Indiabulls Housing Finance, YES Bank, Axis Bank and BEML.
Commercial Engineers & Body Builders, GSS Infotech, Marico and PVR have hit new 52-week high on NSE in this morning session.
21 stocks have hit new 52-week low including names like Adhunik Metaliks, GTL Infrastructure, Rolta India and SRS among others.
The breadth of the market favoured the declines with 742 stocks advancing and 858 declining while 459 remained unchanged. On the BSE, 969 stocks advanced, 993 declined and 95 remained unchanged.
