D-Street Buzz: Nifty Metal drags with Hindalco down 3%; Ashok Leyland hits new 52-week low, Sun Pharma gains

The breadth of the market favoured the declines with 296 stocks advancing and 1210 declining while 541 remained unchanged. On the BSE, 311 stocks advanced, 1027 declined and 49 remained unchanged.

Taking cues from the fall in US stock futures and the negative trading in the Asian markets, the Indian benchmark indices are trading in the red with the Nifty50 is down 69 points, trading at 10,714 while the Sensex shed 250 points and is trading at 35,884.

Nifty Metal is down over 2 percent dragged by JSPL, JSW Steel, Hindalco Industries, NALCO, SAIL, Tata Steel, NMDC and Vedanta.

Realty stocks are also down with loses from DLF, Oberoi Realty, Sobha, Indiabulls Real Estate and Brigade Enterprises.

From the auto space, the top losers are Eicher Motors, Bharat Forge, Mahindra & Mahindra, Maruti Suzuki and Tata Motors.

Oil & gas stocks are also weak as Reliance Industries, GAIL India and Indian Oil Corporation shed up to 1 percent in this morning session.

From the midcap space, the top losers included Balkrishna Industries, Bharat Forge, Dish TV, Exide Industries, M&M Financial Services, Power Finance Corporation and Voltas.

From the BSE midcap space, the top gainers are Blue Dart and Mphasis while the top losers are M&M Financial, Reliance Nippon and Godrej Properties.

The top smallcap gainers are Healthcare Global which spiked 7 percent followed by Kellton Tech and JP Infratech while the top losers are NCC, Transformers and Rectifiers and Capital Trust.

The top gainers from NSE include Sun Pharma, Power Grid, UPL and HCL Tech.

The top losers included Vedanta, Tata Steel, JSW Steel, Hindalco Industries and Eicher Motors.

The most active stocks were YES Bank, Sun Pharma, Maruti, Reliance Industries and Tata Steel.

77 stocks have hit new 52-week low including names like ABG Shipyard, Amara Raja Batteries, Ashok Leyland, Balkrishna Industries, Bharat Forge, Deepak Fertilizers, Dish TV, Gujarat Pipavav Port, HT Media, IL&FS Transportation Networks, JSPL, Mahindra Lifespace, Oil India, NMDC, Rain Industries, Reliance Capital, SAIL, Texmaco Rail and Transformers And Rectifiers among others.
