D-Street Buzz: Nifty energy outperforms as RIL jumps 2%; HCL Tech rallies, ICICI Bank at new record high

The breadth of the market favoured the declines with 758 stocks advancing and 905 declining while 397 remained unchanged. On the BSE, 1113 stocks advanced, 1224 declined and 120 remained unchanged.

The Indian benchmark indices continues to hold on to the morning gains with the Nifty50 up 50 points, trading at 10,666 while the Sensex gained 170 points at 35,430.

Nifty energy is the outperforming sector led by Reliance Industries which jumped 2.5 percent in the afternoon session.

IT stocks are also buzzing with gains from HCL Tech which jumped close to 4 percent followed by Oracle Financial Services and Wipro.

However metal stocks are weak dragged by Jindal Steel and JSW Steel which shed 2-3 percent followed by Tata Steel, NALCO, SAIL and NMDC.

From the BSE midcap space, the top gainers included Ajanta Pharma, Tata Communications and GE T&D while the top losers were Reliance Infra, Dewan Housing Finance and Reliance Capital.

From the BSE smallcap space, the top gainers were Gujarat Apollo Industries, Indian Hume Pipes and SREI Infra. The top losers were TAKE Solutions, Godawari Power and Ispat and Patel Engineering.

The top gainers from NSE include HCL Tech, Reliance Industries, Bharti Airtel, Eicher Motors and Cipla.

The top losers included YES Bank, Tata Steel, ONGC, Indiabulls Housing Finance and JSW Steel.

The most active stocks are YES Bank, Jet Airways, Reliance Industries, Axis Bank and ICICI Bank.

Divi's Laboratories, ICICI Bank, Atul and IOL Chemicals were some of the few stocks which hit new 52-week high on the NSE.

37 stocks have hit new 52-week low including names like ABG Shipyard, Empee Distilleries, Hexaware Technologies, Motherson Sumi Systems, Rallis India and Network18 Media among others.
