D-Street Buzz: Metal stocks fall led by Hindalco, NMDC; M&M sheds 3%, SAIL hits new 52-week low

The breadth of the market favoured the declines with 771 stocks advancing and 916 declining while 376 remained unchanged. On the BSE, 1166 stocks advanced, 1327 declined and 169 remained unchanged.

The Indian stock market has yet again slipped into the red for the second consecutive day with the Nifty50 shedding 41 points, trading at 10,559 while the Sensex is down 132 points at 35,067.

Nifty Metal is underperforming, down over 1 percent dragged by Coal India, Jindal Steel & Power, JSW Steel, Hindalco Industries, NALCO, NMDC and Tata Steel.

PSU banks are also down led by State Bank of India, Oriental Bank of India and Union Bank of India.

Nifty Media is outperforming, up 1.5 percent led by Zee Entertainment Enterprises, Zee Media and UFO Moviez.

The top gainers from NSE include Zee Entertainment, Indiabulls Housing Finance, Adani Ports, ONGC and Hero MotoCorp.

The top losers included Mahindra & Mahindra, UltraTech Cement, Hindalco Industries, Wipro and IOC.

The most active stocks were YES Bank, HDFC Bank, Indiabulls Housing Finance, Reliance Industries and TCS.

Adani Gas and Birla Cable are some of the few stocks which hit new 52-week high on the NSE.

52 stocks have hit new 52-week low including names like ABG Shipyard, Bombay Rayon, CARE Ratings, NTPC, IL&FS Investment, Steel Authority of India, Sharda Cropchem and Somany Ceramics among others.
