D-St Buzz: Nifty IT underperforms dragged by Tech Mahindra; Tata Steel down 2%, PSU banks gain

The breadth of the market favoured the declines as 487 stocks advanced and 1,115 declined while 485 remained unchanged on the NSE. On the BSE, 555 stocks advanced, 1,103 declined and 83 remained unchanged.

Benchmark indices continues to trade in the red with Nifty down 14 points, trading at 11,134, while the Sensex shed 23 points and is trading at 37,067.

Nifty IT is the underperforming sector, down close to a percent dragged by Infosys, Tata Elxsi, Tech Mahindra and Wipro.

Realty stocks are also down with loses from Oberoi Realty, Sunteck Realty, Indiabulls Real Estate, DLF and Brigade Enterprises.

Selective media stocks are trading in the red led by DEN Networks, Dish TV, Hathway Cable, INOC Leisure and UFO Moviez.

However, Nifty PSU Bank is trading in the green led by Bank of Baroda, Oriental Bank of Commerce, Punjab National Bank and Union Bank of India.

India VIX is down 0.11 percent at 27.35 levels.

The top Nifty gainers include Vedanta, Sun Pharma, Adani Ports, GAIL India and Indiabulls Housing Finance while Tata Steel, Tech Mahindra, Bajaj Auto, Grasim Industries and Asian Paints are the top losers.

The most active stocks are Sun Pharma, Reliance Industries, Tata Steel, YES Bank and Eicher Motors.

220 stocks have hit new 52-week low on NSE including Aban Offshore, ABG Shipyard, Adlabs Entertainment, Ballarpur Industries, Bharat Forge, Bombay Burmah Trading Corporation, Biocon, Bosch, Cadila Healthcare, Ceat, Dabur India, Eicher Motors, Eveready Industries, Graphite India, HCL Infosystems, Hero MotoCorp, IL&FS Transportation Networks and Tata Elxsi among others.
