Don't sell in May; hold financials, tech stocks: CLSA
Look for relative strength in stocks, sectors and markets to drive performance. We recommend staying with the leaders - financials, staples and tech, saysLaurence Balanco, CLSA.
Here are some of expert views on how the equity market is expected to behave in the near term:
Laurence Balanco, CLSA said that, "We are not advocating a "sell in May, go away" strategy, but the tendency for falling markets from June-September does suggest a need to review and adapt strategies over the June-July period. Look for relative strength in stocks, sectors and markets to drive performance. We recommend staying with the leaders - financials, staples and tech."Aditya Narain, Citigroup said that, "The early signs from earnings season are good, but there seems little change in the broad economic environment, management mood and analysts. We don't see any material upside changes in earnings at the aggregate, though the early part of earnings season has been a good backdrop to the market's recent rally."
