The market breadth was in favour of the advances with 1052 stocks advancing while 517 declined and 461 remained unchanged. On the other hand, in the BSE, 1203 stocks advanced and 551 declined and 79 remained unchanged.
The Indian equity market was trading on a positive note on Tuesday morning with the Nifty adding 5 points and was trading at 10,533 while the Sensex was up 19 points.
The Nifty metal index was up 1.3 percent led by NALCO and Hindustan Copper which each added over 2 percent followed by Tata Steel and Vedanta. Hindalco Industries was the other gainer which jumped 2.8 percent in the morning trade.
The Nifty realty index gained 0.8 percent led by Indiabuls Real Estate which jumped 3.7 percent followed by Sobha and Brigade Enterprises.
PSU banks were also trading in the green as stocks like Bank of India, which gained 1.5 percent and Punjab National Bank up 1 percent were some of the top gainers.
The top Nifty gainers included Power Grid of India which was jumped 3 percent while Hindalco Industries and Tata Steel added 2 percent. Vedanta and Mahindra & Mahindra were the other gainers.
The most active Nifty stocks included Indiabulls Ventures which was up 2.8 percent while Bajaj Electricals zoomed over 7 percent. Hindalco, Indiabulls Real Estate and Dewan Housing Finance were the other active stocks.
The top Nifty losers were Infosys which shed 1 percent followed by Cipla, Bharti Infratel, Wipro and Axis Bank.
The top BSE gainers included Indiabulls Ventures which was up close to 20 percent followed by Bajaj Electricals, Tata Steel, Sharda Crop and MMTC.
Vakrangee, down 5 percent while Welspun, Infosys and GSK Consumer were some of the BSE losers.
