Gold prices surged on April 9 as trade war concerns after US President Donald Trump's reciprocal tariffs made investors shift to safe-haven assets like gold. According to the India Bullion and Jewellers Association, gold (999 purity) was trading at around Rs 88,550 per 10 gm on April 9.

Gold's June contracts on the Multi Commodity Exchange of India (MCX) traded at Rs 87,998 per 10 gram on April 9.
"Today, gold prices are likely to trade higher on account of higher US Dollar Index as the new import tariffs is likely to take effect prompting investors to flock to safe-haven gold," Angel One said in its latest report.
Silver prices also rose, with MCX Silver May futures opening at Rs 89,005 per kg on April 9.
While 24-carat gold is a 100 percent pure form of gold with no trace of any other metal, the 22-carat variant has 91.67 percent pure gold along with some traces of alloyed metals like silver or copper.
