Still shooting for April 1 GST deadline: Haseeb Drabu

The GST (Goods and Services Tax) bill may not be passed in the Winter Session, but the GST Council is still shooting for the April 1 deadline to implement the new indirect tax reform, says Haseeb Drabu, Finance Minister of Jammu and Kashmir.Cross empowerment is a major issue at this point, he says. For the States and the Centre to come to a concensus on the matter may take time.Demonetisation, says Drabu, is a separate issue altogether and will not affect the functioning of GST in the country.
