The Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government was sworn in on May 26, 2014. The General Elections of 2014 resulted in the Bharatiya Janata Party securing a clear majority in Lok Sabha, and the National Democratic Alliance, comprising of the BJP and its allies, forming the government.
Among the first few major decisions by the new government was the one to replace the Planning Commission with a think tank called the Niti Aayog.
Some other significant laws that have been passed by the government over the past four years include GST, Insolvency & Bankruptcy Code, One Rank, One Pension, Aadhaar Act, 2016 and Black Money Act, 2015.
