Students have received 13 international offers so far
Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee has received 803 job offers within the first four days of placements (December 1-5). Among the companies, Reliance Industries Limited offered maximum 18 offers and 6 PPOs, taking the maximum to 24 offers.
In a statement, IIT Roorkee said the students received 13 international offers. Some of the companies include Accenture, Flyhomes, Oski Technology, People Strong, Reliance Industries Limited and Siemens among others.
At the end of December 5, 139 companies had visited the campus and made job offers.
In the midnight slot of the first day of placements, the institute received 215 offers from 10 companies, including 150 PPOs. The engineering institute also received seven international offers. A total of 1,354 students registered for placements across departments this year.
Established in 1847, the institute offers higher education programmes in engineering, sciences, management, architecture and planning, and humanities and social sciences. It was converted to the University of Roorkee in 1949 and to IIT Roorkee in 2001.
The placement process that began across IITs on December 1 will continue until the end of the month. Students can also opt out of the placement process to pursue entrepreneurship. Students are eligible for pre-placement offers (PPOs). This means if a student has performed very well during their summer internship with a company, the company may be ready to absorb them for a full-time position after they complete their course.
