Editor's Take | Government, e-tailers give finishing touches to draft e-commerce policy

Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion is giving final touches to draft e-commerce policy, which is expected to be released soon.

The government is working towards a strategy to promote domestic manufacturers, as US retail giant Walmart takes control of homegrown e-commerce firm Flipkart, to become the country's largest e-commerce operator in India.

The Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP), is giving final touches to the draft e-commerce policy, which is expected to be finalised soon. Last week, top e-tailers including Snapdeal, Amazon, Pepperfry, among others, met government officials to discuss various aspects of the proposed e-commerce policy.
