Group CFO of Tata Steel, R Shankar Raman, Whole-time Director & CFO of L&T also gave their take on Arun Jaitley's Union Budget.

Subhash Chandra Garg, Economic Affairs Secretary discussed the contours of Budget 2018 with the eminent panelists.

'Don't expect very significant correction in the market. This Budget will certainly provide the rural fillip which was required and which was the prime need for the last couple of years. I don't expect the markets to be very negative', Kela said.

'There are a couple of bad news in this for retail investors and domestic investors. Securities Transactions Tax (STT) has not been removed and introduced long-term capital gains and remain short-term but STT is still there. We are perhaps the only country now with both tax regimes on the stock trading. For making is so efficient, we are making it a bit inefficient', Damani said.

'I think what he has done, he had to do particularly everyone expected and it was known that emphasis will be on the rural economy, on the farmers, health, education and infrastructure and he has taken a lot of pain and time to explain what all has been done, what is in the pipeline regarding all this', Parekh said.

'Long-term capital gain (LTCG) tax will be taken in stride and will not have much impact', Nirmal Jain said .
