Former Maharashtra Minister and senior NCP leader Chhagan Bhujbal, who is presently in judicial custody, has written to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis requesting him to start the diversion work of the Manjarpada water project.

Bhujbal has written a letter to Fadanvis requesting him to start the said work. Its copy has been given to state Assembly speaker and other senior NCP leaders, a release issued here by his office said today.

The work has been halted since October 2014 and following completion of it, some regions in Nashik district especially the drought-prone Yeola tehsil will benefit, it added.

On March 31, the special court for Prevention of Money Laundering Act cases in Mumbai had extended the judicial custody of Bhujbal and his nephew and former MP Samir till April 13.

ED has filed two FIRs against Chhagan Bhujbal, his family members and others under the anti-money laundering laws, based on FIRs filed by the state Anti-Corruption Bureau, to probe alleged irregularities in the construction of the state guest house 'Maharashtra Sadan' in Delhi and the Kalina land grabbing case in Mumbai.
