Aadhaar is now mandatory for all post office deposits, the public provident fund (PPF), the national savings certificate (NSC) scheme and the Kisan Vikas Patra (KVP). The Finance Ministry has issued four separate notifications, declaring Aadhaar is mandatory for the schemes. Existing depositors have been given time till December 31, to provide the 12-digit unique identification number.
