Colgate Palmolive has posted net profit of Rs 146 crore in January-March quarter, down 10.8 percent from Rs 164 crore in corresponding quarter last fiscal. During the period, its revenue climbed 7 percent at Rs 1099 crore against Rs 1028 crore on an annual basis.

According to a CNBC-TV18 poll, the consumer products company fourth quarter net profit was seen rising 4.5 percent to Rs 171 crore and revenue was expected to increase 3.8 percent to Rs 1,068 crore compared to year-ago period.
In Q4, its higher advertising spends adversely impacted margins consequently bottom-line. Advertising spends rose 28 percent at Rs 198 crore in Q4 from Rs 155 crore year-on-year. EBITDA was down 2.3 percent at Rs 242 crore against Rs 247 crore while EBITDA margins was at 22 percent versus 24.1 percent (YoY). During the quarter, gross margins were at 64 percent from 63.6 percent (YoY).
Volume rise in Q4 was a surprise with exports volumes growing 6 percent and domestic volumes up 4 percent.
