DB Corp posts Rs 55.2 cr net profit for Q4 FY13

Print media and radio firm DB Corp today reported 21.58 per cent rise in consolidated net profit at Rs 55.2 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2013.


Net profit during the three months ended March 31, 2012 stood at Rs 45.4 crore, the company said in a statement. Its total income from operations for the reported quarter increased 12.6 per cent to Rs 398 crore, as against Rs 353.2 crore in the year-ago period, it added. Revenues from advertising reported growth of about 13 per cent year-on-year to Rs 297.5 crore in current period from Rs 263 crore in Q4 of last fiscal, it said


Advertising revenues from radio business grew 25 per cent to Rs 18.5 crore in Q4 2012-13 as against Rs 14.9 million in the year-ago period. Net profit for the radio business stood at Rs 4.2 crore in the reported quarter. "In addition to content enrichment, we have also improved the quality of newsprint. We have maintained our performance momentum and have reported sustained progress in both mature and new regions, preserving our position as India's largest print media group amongst national dailies," DB Corp Managing Director Sudhir Agarwal said.

The company ended the fiscal on a positive note, in a scenario which was impacted by contracting economic activity at a macro level and restrained consumer spending, he added. "We witnessed a healthy growth in our top line and overall profitability led by benefits of our growing internal efficiencies, continuous product innovation and market development," he said. DB Corp publishes eight newspapers, including Dainik Bhaskar, Divya Bhaskar and Divya Marathi, with 64 editions, 191 sub-editions in four languages in 13 states in India.
