In case you’ve missed buying gold this Diwali, it isn’t too late yet. You can still buy it and eat it too. Wonder how?
Huber and Holly, the ice cream parlour run by Havmor, introduced a special gold edition ice cream in its Ahmedabad outlet, aptly named the Mighty Midas collection, priced at Rs 1,000 per serving.
This exotic dessert comes wrapped in a 24-carat gold foil with edible gold flakes. Still doesn’t justify the price? Here's more then. The ice cream comes with 16 different toppings including Belgium chocolate ice cream, chocolate truffle balls, caramelized rocher balls, raspberry rose sorbet macaroon, waffle dipped in golden pearls and gooey brownie.
The ice cream is made-to-order and everything for it is made in house by the company.
“The challenge was to make the ice cream premium. We are so fond of deserts, but we hardly have any home grown brand that has premium or luxury offerings in the segment. We thought of playing it up with this ice-cream and make it the best that the market can offer,” said Gayatri Chona, founder at Huber and Holly.
Launched just a fortnight back, the gold ice cream sold close to 20 cones a day at Huber and Holly's Ahmedabad outlet.
The ice cream is currently available only in Ahmedabad, but will start sale of the premium ice cream in Hyderabad by early next month.
Currently, Ahmedabad and Hyderabad are the only two cities that have Havmor's Huber and Holly outlets, but the third store is expected to come up by early next year. Pune, Baroda, Delhi, Punjab and Mumbai have been shortlisted for the expansion process.
The ice cream brand also plans to localise their gold offering. For example, in Hyderabad, it will add the flavour of city’s famous Irani chai in the ice cream.
The store also offers other exotic flavours like avocado with lavender honey, chocolate cardamom and lavender cheese.
The innovation don’t just end with the Mighty Midas though. There is soon going to be a winter luxury edition too.
Banking on Havmor's steady growth, the parent brand is targeting to touch turnover of Rs 1,000 crore by 2020.
