Francisco D'Souza, CEO, Cognizant in an interview to CNBC-TV18 said calendar year 2017 would be better than the previous year and spoke in detail about growth areas, acquisitions and impact of Trump administration.
The areas that saw strong growth were healthcare, products & resources and communications media and technology, said D’Souza.
“9-10 percent guidance would be the best outlook for this year”, he said.
According to him, realignment of business, focus on high quality sustainable revenue growth, and simplification of organisation would help drive margins. The re-aligned business strategy is to fit client need, he added.
He also clarified that there were no wide scale layoffs. He said,” I can state unequivocally, we did no layoffs.” The company ran through a performance cycle and some employees chose to pursue other options during the performance cycle, he said.
Confident of the outlook going forward, he said, “The best days lie ahead for Cognizant, we have got a tremendous market position.” Moreover, we have an environment where the world is becoming more technology intensive and services offered by the company are relevant for that, he said.For full interview, watch video
