Sudden push to electrification may lead to India exporting jobs to other countries: M&M

CNBC-TV18’s Ronojoy Banerjee caught up with Pawan Goenka of Mahindra and Mahindra (M&M) and asked him about his plans for electric vehicles (EVs) as the government is planning to move completely to electric by 2030.

Electric vehicles are largely imported today in terms of components. If you try and move too rapidly, we would export jobs, we will import investment, we will import a lot of things and therefore we need to find the right balance, he said.

Our pace of growth should be consistent with the pace at which we can support local manufacturing, localization of electric vehicles, he added.
