Diversified engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) conglomerate Punj Lloyd on Tuesday said it has won a Rs 542-crore road project in Bihar from National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).
"Punj Lloyd has secured a 41-km long, Rs 541.84 crore road project in Bihar from NHAI. The scope of work for the project includes four-laning from 360.91 km to 402 km of Gorakhpur-Gopalganj section of NH28 in Bihar," the company said in a statement.
The highway aims at cutting down travel time between Gorakhpur and Gopalganj and Gorakhpur and Patna by reducing congestion and fixing geometric deficiencies at various intersections.
The project is scheduled to be completed in 24 months. Punj Lloyd has executed over 16 highway projects of NHAI till date.
The Group's order backlog stands at Rs 21,694 crore. Managing Director and Group CEO, Punj Lloyd, JP Chalasani said: "Punj Lloyd has executed several prestigious projects for NHAI in the past, including portions of the Golden Quadrilateral and North-South and East-West Corridor. We are proud to have played a role in creating infrastructure that connects rural interiors of the country."
He said NHAI's aggressive plans to continuously upgrade and strengthen National Highways have led to the opening up of job opportunities and upliftment of rural economy. The stock was trading at Rs 26.40 on BSE, up 0.96 percent, at about 1340 hours.
