Mercedes-Benz has launched two new models in the Indian market. The AMG GT Roadster and AMG GT R. Both of them are two high-end sports cars that are priced at Rs 2.19 crore and Rs 2.23 crore respectively.
While both models are powered by 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engines, the GT R, which is based on GT 3, as per a Car Trade report, produces 585 bhp and 700 Nm of torque. On the other hand, the Roadster produces 470 bhp and 630 Nm of torque.
The GT R is comparably lighter than the Mercedes AMG GT S model owing to the titanium silencers and light-weight aluminium wheels. It can reach clock 0 to 100 kmph in 3.6 seconds and has a top speed of 318 Kmph. It employs a 7-Speed Dual-Clutch Automatic Transmission. The model had also recently broken the world record at the Buddh International Circuit by clocking the fastest lap of 2:09.853.
The GT R version available in India is a toned down version of its globally famous twin, the GT C Roadster. With a top speed of 302 kmph, Roadster takes 4 seconds to reach 0 to 100 kmph. The car comes with a 7-Speed Dual Clutch Transmission in a transaxle arrangement at the rear axle.
"We now have 12 AMG products in India. Our average customer age here is 37. The AMG GT R and GT Roadster will combine driving dynamics of AMG GT3 and everyday practicality of the AMG GT," said Roland Folger, MD and CEO of Mercedes-Benz during the launch.
