    Domestic car sales down 7.59% in January, bikes up 4%

    Motorcycle sales last month grew 4.04 per cent to 9,22,323 units from 8,86,521 units in January a year ago, according to data released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).

    Domestic passenger car sales declined 7.59 percent to 1,60,289 units in January compared with 1,73,449 units in the same month of 2013.

    Motorcycle sales last month grew 4.04 percent to 9,22,323 units from 8,86,521 units in January a year ago, according to data released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).

    Two-wheeler sales in January increased 8.85 percent to 13,13,796 units from 12,06,931 units a year earlier.

    Sales of commercial vehicles were down 20.93 percent to 49,987 units from 63,218 units in the year-ago period, SIAM said.

    Sales of vehicles across categories registered a growth of 3.75 percent to 16,19,689 units in January against15,61,130 units in the same month of 2013, it added.
