An all-party delegation from Maharashtra will soon meet the Union Commerce Minister to demand lifting of ban on foodgrain export, the Legislative Assembly was informed today.

An all-party delegation from Maharashtra will soon meet the Union Commerce Minister to demand lifting of ban on foodgrain export, the Legislative Assembly was informed today.

Replying to a debate on the calling attention notice on the issue of farmers not getting adequate price for paddy, Food and Civil Supplies Minister Anil Deshmukh said the all- party delegation will met the Union Commerce Minister in Delhi and push for lifting of ban on foodgrain exports.

Opposition members said the Centre had lifted ban on export of cotton and sugar, but not on foodgrains.

Foodgrain growers are not getting adequate price for their crops, they said, adding the State Government owes farmers Rs 26 crore. Deshmukh said the arrears would be disbursed by April 25.
