Maxx Mobile plans to enter Asian, African markets

Home grown mobile handset maker Maxx Mobile today said it is expanding its global footprint to hawk its products.

Home grown mobile handset maker Maxx Mobile today said it is expanding its global footprint to hawk its products.

"Our target is to cover the entire Asian market," Maxx group Chairman and Managing Director Ajjay Agarwal told PTI adding that the company will also plans to enter Africa as soon as it finds a distribution partner.

The company is currently present in UAE, Fiji and Nepal.

Agarwal added that the company has now entered Bangladesh and expects to sell 1.2 million phones in the country in the first year with a revenue of USD 30 million.

"Bangladesh has as much potential as India. There is a lot of demand in Bangladesh for the value for money products that we sell," he said.

Agarwal added that its brand ambassador Mahendra Singh Dhoni's popularity will help in selling the products in Bangladesh.

He further said the all the models that are being sold in India at present will also be sold in Bangladesh with changes in the language configuration.  It will also sell its accessories in the market from January 2012.

The company now plans to enter Burma and Sri Lanka and has already shipped its products to Sri Lanka. It also will look at Singapore and Malaysia after Diwali, Agarwal said.

Last year the firm had registered a revenue of Rs 1,450 crore and is expecting about Rs 1,800 crore revenue from India.

Agarwal did not divulge the revenue share of the overseas market.
