Leakage of natural gas from a well of the ONGC at Konaban in West Tripura district continued for the third day today even as the ''Crisis Management Team'' (CMT) of the public sector oil explorer continued it's effort to cement the well, official sources said on Thursday.

A CMT flew to Agartala from Ahmedabad and made its best effort to cement the well but failed, the sources said adding that the team would continue its effort to stop the leakage.

"The pressure was so high that the team could not enter into the well," said K Satyanarayna, Manager of Tripura Asset of ONGC.

"The CMT is capable of handling such situation and the well will be sealed by drilling mud soon," he added.

An alert has already been sounded in West Tripura's Konaban area following leakage of natural gas since Tuesday evening.

Paramilitary, Tripura State Rifles (TSR) has cordoned off the area and there was no threat to people yet, the sources said.
