Tata Motors Oct total sales up 6% to 71,771 units

Tata Motors' total vehicle sales in October rose 6 percent year-on-year to 71,771 units, helped by strong demand for its hight commercial vehicles.

    Tata Motors' total vehicle sales in October rose 6 percent year-on-year to 71,771 units, helped by strong demand for its hight commercial vehicles.


    The country's largest CV maker reported sales of 68,145 units in the domestic market, up 7 percent from a year ago.


    Tata Motors' total CV sales last month rose 21 percent to 47,026 units, helped by 59 percent surge in LCV sales at 34,905 units. Medium and heavy truck sales, however, declined 28 percent to 12,121 units.


    Passenger vehicle sales slipped 16 percent 21,119 units in October, although the company said its Manza Club Class sedan, now available across the country, and the Safari Storme SUV currently sold in the national capital region, Chandigarh and Lucknow, have received "encouraging response."


    Overall, its UV sales, which include the Safari, Sumo, Aria and Venture rose 12 percent to 4,675 units and Nano car sales were up 4 percent to 4,004 units.


    However, Tata Motors' Indica range sales slumped 38 percent to 6,692 units and dispatches of the Indigo range fell 8 percent to 5,748 units.


    On a cumulative basis, its sales so far this year (April-Oct) are up 3 percent to 4,81,668 units.

    Tata Motors shares closed up 5 percent at Rs 267.45 on NSE on Thursday.
