Power minister assures solution to gas allocation

Before this meeting on gas allocation took place on Wednesday, it was anticipated that the EGoM would look into a plan to put off the priority status for natural gas allocation to urea facilities and re-allocate the gas to the power sector.

A day after the empowered group of ministers (EGoM) headed by defence minister AK Antony, on gas allocation deferred its final decision to the next week, minister of power Jyotiraditya Scindia on Thursday said that the EGoM was working to find solutions to the problems in gas availability for both the fertiliser and the power sectors.

"The whole EGoM is working together to look at both sectors. They are both fundamental to the economy. But at the same time, it cannot be at cost of the other. Don't worry, we will arrive at a solution," said Jyotiraditya Scindia.
