Manufacturing and exports growth critical for eco: Mahindra

Anand Mahindra of Mahindra and Mahindra feels that there is light at the end of the tunnel and the economy will see a recovery going forward.

Anand Mahindra, CMD of Mahindra & Mahindra is hopeful of a recovery in the economy going forward. He told CNBC-TV18 that India is currently oversold and the situation is likely to get better soon.

Below is the edited transcript of his conversation with CNBC-TV18.

I believe there is light at the end of the tunnel. There was just too much negativity which was not in line with the fundamentals.

I am less concerned about the people who have awaited a turn around in corporate earnings than I am about the people who have waited for many years to participate in the Indian dream and I am talking about social issues.

Unless India gets back to encouraging manufacturing, sees growth in manufacturing, it is critical as manufacturing ultimately creates the biggest jobs. We thought we could leapfrog that era and move directly to the digital era. That is not going to happen we need to promote manufacturing and promote exports.
