Citi's troubles intensify: 3rd HNI sends notice for refund

Citi's troubles are mounting as another high net-worth individual (HNI) sends the bank a legal notice asking for a refund.

Citi's troubles are mounting. A third high net-worth individual (HNI) has filed a complaint against Citibank in the fraud case. OKS Pan-Tech claims that it invested Rs 2 crore in the Citi fraud scheme. The company has therefore sent a legal notice to the bank's Gurgaon branch, asking for a refund.

Puri sold short-term deposit scheme at a monthly interest of 12.55% and the money was invested from June 2010 and re-invested till December 31. On account of this, OKS got Rs 2.5 lakh as interest from June to November 2010. In mid-December, Puri told OKS that the scheme has been discontinued adding that it was impossible to renew the deposit plan.
