Ratan Tata, Nandan Nilekani and former finance secretary Vijay Kelkar are coming together to start a microfinance company. In a statement issued by Tata Trust -- Avanti Finance will focus on "delivering affordable and timely credit to under-served segments in India." Avanti Finance will apply for a RBI licence & start operations before the end of this financial year.
Livspace, an online home design company, has raised 100 crore in Series B round from Bessemer Jungle and Helion. These funds are being allocated to set up new experience centres with augmented and virtual reality technology platforms.
Bangalore-based B2B hyperlocal logistics services player - Runnr has raised USD 7 million from Nexus Venture Partners and Blume; while existing investor, Sequoia Capital did not participate in the round. Remember, Runnr, is the entity that emerged from the merger between logistics player Roadrunnr and food delivery startup TinyOwl. Runnr is now focussing on corporate clients to increase order volumes.
Mumbai-based fintech startup, founded in early 2016 - LoanTap has raised USD 3 million in a Series A round. Loantap is an online platform that delivers flexible loan products to salaried professionals and nearly 85 percent of the funding will be used for onward lending by the platform, while a part of the remaining capital will also be used to augment its technology and distribution frameworks.
Chennai-based self-publishing startup, Notion Press, has raised a million dollars in a Pre-Series A round from undisclosed HNIs. Founded in 2012, Notion Press will be launching US operations in the middle of September and plans to expand to three other countries by end of this financial year.
