Patanjali's launch of mineral water brand 'Divya-Jal' likely by Diwali

In what could mean more competition for global players like Pepsico, Coca-Cola and home bred players like Parle Bisleri and Tata Gobal Beverages, CNBC-TV18 learns from sources that Baba Ramdev's Patanjali Ayurved Is planning a large-scale foray into the bottled water space known as 'Divya Jal'.

The launch could be as early as Diwali. The company is planning a full-fleged foray in the bottled water space and is eyeing Rs 1000 crore total revenue by next year through this launch.

The market size of India's bottled water marker is around Rs 14000 crore.

Diya Jal's pan-India roll out will be a phase wise launch beginning with Delhi, NCR region by early 2018.

It will manufacture the bottled water in Haridwar and lucknow plants to start with. Company will follow a three-pronged manufacturing model – Own, Lease and JV.


It will explore JVs and buyouts of distressed bottling plants in India.

The company has yet to respond to query by CNBC-TV18.
