The last date for candidates to apply to be India's next Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) chairperson closed on October 7. But the finance ministry is not too pleased with the 55 plus applications it has received. The prominent applicants include Ramesh Abhishek, former FMC chairman; Subir Gokarn, former RBI deputy governor; Rajeev Kumar Agarwal, Sebi Member; Thomas Mathew, former joint secretary, Capital Markets and Arvind Mayaram, former DEA secretary.
