Delhi and Mumbai circles remained the most wanted in the 900 Mhz spectrum band.
Taking cue from yesterday, aggressive bidding for the 900 Mhz band continued today. The 2G spectrum auction has entered the second day but demand remains robust. Telecom companies continued to haggle for spectrum as the bids have hit Rs 46,000 crore. This is against the government's target of Rs 40,000 crore. The Centre is likely to exceed its target of raising Rs 11,300 crore from the 2G spectrum auctions.
Delhi and Mumbai circles remained the most wanted in the 900 Mhz spectrum band. This is essentially because Bharti Airtel and Vodafone's licences are going to come up for renewal by 2014 end. These companies have to necessarily bid for 900 Mhz band. Reliance Jio is also trying hard to enter atleast the Mumbai circle.
In the 1800 Mhz spectrum band, telcos have shown significant interest in circles such as Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.
