Renault not keen in just a '4-wheeler', may not brand Bajaj

The ultra-low car (ULC) project which Bajaj Auto is currently working on, may not interest Renault India. CNBC-TV18's Swati Khandelwal Jain learns that Renault-Nissan is yet to see the final roadworthy version of the car and may not be interested in just a four-wheeler which is not a car.

Bajaj Auto and Renault have been into an agreement where the former is putting in 100% investment to develop and manufacture this ULC, while the latter will market and brand this product.


Now, sources indicate that Renault may not fulfill its agreement as it may not be interested in "just a four-wheeler and not a car", as quoted by Rajiv Bajaj managing director of Bajaj Auto.

Also, CNBC-TV18 learns that Renault is independently working on its own product pipeline, which is rolling out five cars over a period of one-and-a-half years (mid-2011 to 2012-end).
