'Ceramic industry to double turnover to Rs 50,000 crore by 2020'

China with 40 percent market share ranks first in the global ceramic market followed by India which at present contributes to 12.9 percent of the global ceramic consumption resulting in Rs 25,000 crore of revenues.

Indian ceramic industry is looking to double its turnover to Rs 50,000 crore by 2020 and aims to become a global leader in the next five to six years, Vibrant Ceramics Expo and Summit-2017 President Nilesh Jetpariya said today.

At an event organised to promote the upcoming summit, Jetpariya, who is also the President, Morbi Ceramics Associations said, "We want to achieve the number position in the global ceramic market in next 5-6 years." ???

China with 40 percent market share ranks first in the global ceramic market followed by India which at present contributes to 12.9 percent of the global ceramic consumption resulting in Rs 25,000 crore of revenues, he said, adding, Morbi in Gujarat contributes to over 90 percent of revenues to the sector.

"We want to make the ceramic industry, export-driven and become a global leader...The ceramic industry resolves to double turnover to Rs 50,000 crore by 2020," Jetpariya told reporters.

The upcoming Vibrant Ceramics 2017, is the world's largest ceramics exhibition of finished products and will be held from November 16 to 19 in Gandhinagar in Gujarat, he said.

"The event will entail showcasing the latest developments in the industry, latest cutting-edge solutions and products as well as seminars and thought-sharing sessions.

"The exhibition provides the platform for the world’s largest congregation of ceramic industry players from over 65 countries," Jetpariya said.

The 2017 edition aims to attract 2,500 buyers from across the world, which represents more than 60 percent of global ceramic industry. Over 250 exhibitors and delegates are also attending, he said.

Andhra Pradesh and Telangana together contribute to Rs 1,000 crore revenues to the ceramics, he said.
