Hyundai has officially taken the wraps off the 2024 Tucson facelift, revealing a host of updates, both inside and out. This mid-cycle refresh positions the SUV as a stylish and technologically advanced option bringing it closer in competition to its rivals.

The exterior

The exterior design of the Tucson has undergone subtle yet impactful changes that contribute to a sportier and more imposing stance. The 'Parametric Jewel' grille, a hallmark of Hyundai's design language, has been redesigned, now featuring an integrated quad LED daytime running light setup. The grille is not only sleeker but wider, giving the front fascia a refreshed and modern look.

Accompanying the grille changes are a new front bumper design, reworked headlights, and a fresh set of alloy wheels. The skid plate, now integrated into the rear bumper, adds a touch of ruggedness to the SUV's overall aesthetic. The side profile remains faithful to the pre-facelift version, with familiar sharp cuts, cladding, and window lines, but the new alloy wheel design injects a sense of dynamism into Tucson's silhouette.

The interior

Step inside, and the most significant changes reveal themselves. Hyundai has completely redesigned the cabin for a premium experience. The dashboard boasts a new layout, complemented by twin 12.3-inch displays for the infotainment system and instrument cluster. The three-spoke steering wheel is a new addition, offering both a modern look and improved functionality.

One of the standout interior modifications is the relocation of the gear lever to the steering column thereby enhancing the overall ergonomics of the cabin. The centre console now features rotary dials and physical switches for temperature control alongside touch capacitive buttons, emphasising a blend of tactile and digital interfaces.

The 2024 Tucson continues to be a tech-laden offering, packed with features that enhance convenience, safety, and entertainment. While specific details about features are yet to be fully disclosed, we can expect the new model to build upon the strengths of its predecessor.

Wireless smartphone connectivity, a wireless charger, automatic dual-zone climate control, and Level 2 ADAS suite (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) are among the carry-over features. The 360-degree surround camera, adaptive cruise control, ambient lighting, air purifier, panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats and multiple airbags should also be retained.

The performance

Powertrain specifics for the 2024 Tucson are yet to be officially revealed, however, it is expected to continue with the same powertrain options as its predecessor. For the international market, this includes petrol, diesel, and hybrid powertrains, coupled with the availability of an all-wheel-drive system.

In the Indian market, where the Tucson is currently offered with a 2.0-litre petrol and diesel engine paired with a six-speed automatic transmission, the powertrain lineup is likely to remain consistent. The 2.0-litre petrol engine delivers 154 hp and 192 Nm, while the 2.0-litre diesel engine produces 183 hp and 416 Nm. The diesel variant comes with an 8-speed automatic transmission, and the top-spec Diesel AT variant offers all-wheel drive.

Hyundai has officially revealed the 2024 Tucson globally, with the European launch scheduled for early next year. Following its introduction in Europe, the SUV will gradually make its way to other markets. For the Indian market, Hyundai enthusiasts can expect the facelifted Tucson to arrive in the second half of 2024 or possibly in early 2025.

The pricing

As with any significant facelift, the 2024 Tucson is expected to come with a premium over its predecessor's pricing. The current version is priced in the range of Rs 29.02 lakh to Rs 35.94 lakh (ex-showroom) in India. While the exact pricing details for the facelifted model are yet to be announced, the anticipated premium reflects the upgraded design, technology, and features that the 2024 Tucson brings to the table.
