Ahead of the first day of the winter session of Parliament, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is hopeful of a productive, fruitful session as his government is aiming to introduce and take up 37 bills in this session, including foreign direct investment hike in insurance.
Addressing the media, Modi exuded confidence that in this winter season, "I hope that we will be able to conduct business with a calm mind."
He also reached out to the opposition parties saying, "I am sure that the opposition will play a positive role and we will work together like we did in the Budget Session in the past."
Highlighting the importance of being a member of Parliament (MP), Modi added, "People elected us to run the government, but they elected MPs to run the country."
The winter session is expected to be a stormy one as the West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee has already announced that her party will stage a dharna in the House opposing the FDI hike in insurance.

Other opposition parties also closing ranks on the issue are JDU, CPI-M, BSP and SP and have sought Congress support too.
The TMC had also skipped the all-party meetings called by Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan and Parliamentary Affairs Minister M Venkaiah Naidu.
Both the Houses are likely to be adjourned with the sudden demise of former union minister and Rajya Sabha MP Murli Deora.
The winter session will be held from November 24 to December 23 and is scheduled to have 22 sittings.
