80% of equipment used in 5G roll-out is made in India: Ashwini Vaishnaw

Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw said that the draft rules of the DPDP Act will be rolled out soon, and that the government is working on the digital architecture of the Data Protection Board.

Almost 80 per cent of the equipment used in 5G rollout was made in India said Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw on October 27. He also added that India-designed and manufactured telecom equipment is exported to 72 countries.

Vaishnaw, who was speaking to the media on the sidelines of the India Mobile Congress in Pragati Maidan said, "Secondly, there are so many companies, which have started design and manufacture in India and today they have become exporters of equipment. India-designed and manufactured telecom equipment is exported to a total of 72 countries today."

Vaishnaw, while stressing on ensuring quality in telecom products said that India-made products were competing with global markets in terms of quality.

“We are competing on equal terms (in quality) with the best manufacturers in the world," he said.
