Ride-hailing app Uber launched its EV auto rickshaw service in Ayodhya on January 14, around a week ahead of the consecration of the Ram temple in the Uttar Pradesh town.
The initiative is aimed at providing "accessible, economical, and environment-friendly transportation options as visitors to the holy city are expected to increase", the company said in a release.
Uber will also begin operations of UberGo, its cheapest car ride service, as well as Uber Intercity, a rapidly developing mobility product that will service all inter-city travel needs to Ayodhya from key Uttar Pradesh destinations, it added.
The expansion into Ayodhya is in line with Uber's 'India to Bharat' strategy to expand its footprint in regional markets, the release noted.

"We are excited to expand our services to Ayodhya as it emerges on the travel map of millions. With this expansion, we are not only providing enhanced mobility options for tourists and pilgrims but also unlocking earning opportunities for many more in the region," Uber India president Prabhjeet Singh said.
