As time ticked by and counting entered its last leg on December 3, the Congress looked more and more confident of a sweep in Telangana. "We are in the lead in Telangana," said Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in an interaction with the press.

As of 1pm, the Congress was far past the majority mark in the 119-member Assembly, leading in 65 seats.

In neighbouring Chhattisgarh, however, the Grand Old Party seems to be set for drubbing with the BJP taking a lead.  "There's a variation happening in Chhattisgarh. There were calculations that we would win both in Chhattisgarh and Telangana," Siddaramaiah said.
